    Mount Waverley F.C. Ross Memorial Plaque - Veterans Description for Public

    The Mount Waverley F.C. Ross Memorial Plaque once formed a part of the now dissappeared Avenue of Honour. In 1974, the plaque was unearthed by road works at the corner of Blackburn and England Roads and repositioned beneath a tree to honour F.C. Ross, 12th Battlion, killed in France in 1917.

  FC Ross was a New Zealander who joined the 12th Battalion in Claremont, Tasmania in 1916. He was 30 years old when he joined, and listed his occupation as 'cheese maker'. His next of kin was listed as his mother in New Zealand. So for what it is worth, FC Ross was a New Zealander, who signed on in Tasmania, and received a plaque in Victoria.
