Northcote RSL War Memorial - Veterans Description for Public
The Northcote R.S.L. War Memorial comprises of a broken pillar monument, erected in 1921 to commemorate the First World War. Inscriptions were added for the Second World War, Korea, Malaya and Vietnam. There is also a special plaque for the first Australian killed in the First World War, a resident of Northcote, W.G.V. Williams. Williams was a member of the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force that captured the German possession at Rabaul in New Guinea on 11th September 1914.
