Rochester War Memorial - Veterans Description for Public
The Rochester War Memorial wasfirst erected at the corner of Gillies and Moore Streets in 1902 but later moved in front of the RSL at the corner Victoria and Mary Streets. The memorial consists of a granite, marble and bluestone monument with a cast iron lamp on top. Originally dedicated to Sgt. Williamson who was killed in the Boer War, inscriptions have been added over the years for the First and Second World Wars, Korea, Malaysia, Borneo and Vietnam.
