Memorial Window Description & History
Stained Glass Window at Malvern East St. John's Anglican Church - Memorial Window Description & History
The Church of England Messenger reported that the Girls' Friendly Society at St. John's was fund-raising for a stained-glass commemorative window in early 1920. At the same time, the old church was demolished to make way for a new building that was intended as a peace memorial. The building was not completed until late 1922, with the new window installed. The four-light memorial, ordered from Brooks, Robinson & Co., was reported to cost £500.
Many years later, a section of the sanctuary was set aside specifically as a chapel 'in grateful memory of those who sacrificed their lives and those who served in the World War II 1939-1945 that we might live in peace'.
