Statement of Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNFICANCE
The stucco rendered brick house with bluestone in 1869/70 for Geelong tannery proprietor, F. Haworth. This 9 room house, which ws built as a picturesque gothic villa, in a style popularised by architectural pattern books of teh mid 19th centrury, was designed by Geelong architect, William Grundy and is a notable example of his work. The former Haworth residence, was one of a number of substantial villas erected by the proprietors of the fellmongeries and tanneries established int he 1860s in the area.
