Statement of Significance
What is significant?
The following features of Crawford’s Home Station / Kulkyne Homestead historical site are significant and include the deteriorating buildings and structures of the original pastoral lease, with shepherd’s hut, windmill, bullock carts, a windmill, possible building footings, a scar tree, a flat open cleared and fenced area at the western extent of the site and artefact scatters. This place represents a good example of a mid-19th century pastoral station with two outbuildings remaining.
How is it significant?
The Crawford’s Home Station / Kulkyne Homestead historical site is of regional historical and scientific significance.
Why is it significant?
It is historically important as a site that operated from as early as 1851. This place has the potential to provide general information on the workings of Crawford’s Home Station / Kulkyne Homestead, as well as providing archaeological information on the workings of the home station site in the wider context of the Mildura region.
