Statement of Cultural Significance
The Ocean Grove Primary School , opened in 1892, is a small weatherboard building with good site integrity.
It is of historic and social value to the local community of Ocean Grove.
The Ocean Grove Primary School is one of the many buildings on the Bellarine Peninsula moved from its original site and was originally the school at the goldfields town of Steiglitz. The small, modest structure is now part of a complex of school buildings which reflect the changing history and culture of Ocean Grove. The two cypress trees in the school grounds are said to have been planted by the Blackwell family who were early settlers in the area.
It is of LOCAL cultural significance.

Ocean Grove Primary School - Physical Description 1
Description
The site has several mature pine trees at the entrance, and a complex of school structures of various styles, including additions and portable buildings. The original schoolhouse in the centre of the site, is a timber framed, weatherboard clad, building with a steep pitch gable roof, clad in corrugated iron.
The east elevation has a skillion roof section, and a flat roof extension on the northeast corner. A tall brick chimney on the east slope of the main gable roof was probably an external chimney, before the skillion addition.
The south and north elevation gable ends have plain timber bargeboards, timber finial and pendant, and a rectangular louvered vent directly below.
The south elevation has a set of five, large timber frame doublehung multiple pane windows with single pane toplights.
The skillion roof projection has a single pane window on the south elevation.
