STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The St Albans Uniting Church, was erected in 1869 for the local Wesleyan Methodist Church Congregation and intended to replace three smaller and primitive churches of that denomination in the vicinity of St Albans.
This church, erected of squared regular coursed basalt with limestone dressing as a rectangular plan buttressed hall church with asymmetrically planned square tower and spire is in the then popular eclectically derived Victorian gothic Revival mode. Although not documented, the design is characteristic of prolific ecclesiastical architect JL Shaw.
