What is significant?
The 1898 iron bridge and the 1913 pedestrian bridge
How is it significant?
The Diamond Creek bridge is historically and aesthetically significant to the Shire of Nillumbik.
Why is it significant?
The Diamond Creek bridge is historically significant as an early marker of an important travel route from Diamond Creek to Hurstbridge, which was a key goldfields route (Criterion A). It is historically and aesthetically significant for its role in the cultural landscape which evokes some of the 19th-century character of Diamond Creek and . as an example of bridge construction methods in the late 1890s and for its use of wrought iron construction The aesthetic significance of the bridge is enhanced by its setting amongst the ornamental planting of the Campbell Street reserve (Criteria D, E & A).

Diamond Creek Bridge - Physical Description 1
This road bridge has red brick, capped piers and a wrought-iron frame which spans the Diamond , ' Creek at the bottom of the hill containing the Diamond Creek commercial and civic centres. It has been supplemented by a reinforced concrete bridge which takes one of the traffic lanes. The bridge is set within a landscape from both the late 19th and this century, with the ornamental planting of the adjacent reserve .and street trees to the east adding to the sense of its construction period
