Statement of Significance
The former Wood's Store, built by 1870, is of local historical and social importance as Preston's first general store and post office and for its association with the Wood family who were prominent local pioneers. It was the site where local residents named their village "Preston" and it was used as the meeting place and centre of town for several decades. The former Wood's Store is architecturally significant as a substantially original building dating from Preston's early years of settlement.
