Statement of Significance
The two Beach Shelters, built c 1914, on the Beaconsfield Parade beach front, are excellent examples of early 1900s beach furniture which, due to re-development and neglect, is becoming increasingly rare. The Shelters, along with the Beaconsfield Parade/Kerford Road Pier, are historically significant remnants of a health and pleasure resort complex that flourished between the 1880s and 1930s and included numerous changing sheds and shelters, rotunda and kiosks.
