Statement of Significance
The Millewa Masonic Lodge, built in 1907-08 to the design by A.E. Castles, is architecturally significant at a State level as an unusually imposing building of its type. The facade is a broadly Edwardian Freestle composition which features Renaissance Revival details and curiously uses all three classical orders. The building has intact interior spaces including, in the temple itself, a pressed metal ceiling with exceptional Wunderlich pattern. It is important also at the local level as the leading building in a significant group of public buildings in High Street, Echuca and for its association with members who have been among the most influential pioneers of the area.
