Statement of Significance
This was one of the last mines to be opened on the lead system. The plant was installed and operational by 1903 and consisted of 2 compound condensing steam engines (one of 275 horsepower) driving 22 inch pumps. In 1906 it was discharging 6 million gallons per day and this made it the most powerfull plant in the area. Winding and puddling plant were installed in 1908.
The site provides evidence of the level of technological sophistication in deep lead mining towards the end of this particular phase of mining.
