Old Rectory Kyneton
William Jones • 24/12/18
Your data base suggests the rectory was built in 1854 but church documents show the House was commissioned in 1850 and occupied in 1851 by Reverend James Sullivan. Brick additions were added in 1865. The garden is dominated by a Black Walnut tree reputed to have been planted by Rev Sullivan to celebrate the construction. As the only stone house in Kyneton in the early days of the gold rush, gold was stored in the house as it was transported back to Melbourne. David Unaipon resided in the 1930s.
