Statement of Significance
A country Presbyterian church unusual for having been designed by an overseas architect, John Honeyman of Glasgow. It is of bluestone, in the Early English style and was built in 1883 under the supervision of Alexander Hamilton of Colac, as a memorial to the Hon. Niel Black MLC, Western District pioneer and member of the first Kirk Session at Noorat.
It has a particularly bold semi-circular apse, now used as an organ chamber and a delightful wooden porch of rather domestic character.
Classified: 01/10/1980
See also B5372 Neil Black Memorial Hall.
