Statement of Significance
Particularly Old:
A tree that is particularly old or venerable.
Outstanding Size:
A tree outstanding for its large height, trunk circumference or canopy spread.
A very large tree approximately three times the circumference of surrounding trees of the species. This massive specimen has extensive trunk decay, possibly lightning strike damage and an overmature crown. The tree also has an extensive colony of ferns on the trunk and many tree ferns around the base. This tree has possibly the largest girth of any forest tree in Gippsland.
This tree is located at Ellery Creek Catchment, 3.75km along BA Road and 1.8km from Ellery Creek Track, Orbost. It is a roadside tree marked by an "x" sawn into the trunk of the tree on the south side.
