Contribution to the landscape
Outstanding size
This Flowering Gum (Corymbia ficifolia) is a dominant feature of the streetscape and although part of the canopy on the north-west side has been removed to accommodate powerlines, the tree still maintains a reasonably full crown. Corymbia ficifolia is native to a very restricted, subcoastal distribution south-east of Perth and is one of the most widely cultivated of all eucalypts both in Australia and overseas .
Corymbia ficifolia is one of around 80 eucalypts which were transferred in 1995 from the genus Eucalyptus to the newly created genus Corymbia. The species was formerly known as Eucalyptus ficifolia.
