Statement of Significance
Rare and localised
This tree is a large example of Oriental Spruce which is rare in cultivation (although now commonly grown in pots for Christmas trees). It is growing on a grave and is the only tree in the Stanley Cemetery. The canopy of the tree wasdamaged about 50 years ago, on the north-east side either from fire or lightningbut has sincere-established itself.
Picea orientalis is a native of Caucasus and North East Asia Minor.
