An evergreen oak resembling Quercus ceris. The origin of the tree is unknown. It dates back to the 1870's and possibly arose as a chance hybrid or as a cutting from an original tree. It was recognised by Joseph Firth, first superintendent of Macedon Forest Nursery. Firth Park is the former site of Joseph Firth's house and garden. The tree could date back to the 1870s and could be the original hybrid or a cutting drom the original tree.
