MUDD'S REEF - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: Mudd's Reef appears on a mining map dated 2 May 1861. It is also shown on an 1870 map, but was not named. Mining probably occurred along this reef during the 1860s. The present owner of the land has stated that one mine was operating at this site as late as 1949.
MUDD'S REEF - Interpretation of Site
Heritage Inventory Interpretation: A gold mining site exploiting the reef running north-south along the ridge line. Tunnels and shafts into the hillside have both been utilised.

MUDD'S REEF - Heritage Inventory Description
Gold mining area, consisting of three mullock heaps, at least two shafts, two tunnels, water races and a concrete machinery base. The site is located along a ridge top.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Moderate archaeological and moderate regional historical significance.
