Heritage Inventory History of Site: A map entitled "Faraday Hawkestone Chewton Elphinstone", by A.R. Selwyn, dated 1859, shows the Specimen Hotel at this location.
SPECIMEN HOTEL SITE - FARADAY - Interpretation of Site
Heritage Inventory Interpretation: This was the site of the Specimen Hotel. No trace remains of the structure, but there are artefacts, possibly a bottle dump.
Heritage Inventory Description
SPECIMEN HOTEL SITE - FARADAY - Heritage Inventory Description
An historic artefact scatter consisting of broken bottle glass, other glass and fragments of lead. There is no trace of a structure. The artefacts have been brought to the surface during the excavation of an Optus trench.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Archaeological significance is low. This was the site of a gold rush era hotel, now destroyed, only artefacts remain.
