STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
'Kainga' a single storey weatherboard Villa was erected on 1904 for John Toyne Auctioneer and Agent from designs by the innovative early Twentieth Centuary frim of Laird and Barlow. This practice shaped residential building style in Geelong for many years and 'Kainga' is characteristic of their work in timber in the first decade of the twentieth centuary.
It is one of a distinct group in Newtown and Geelong West of interest for architectural qualities.
