Oaks and Dutch Elms

06/11/19

These trees were planted by the original owner of this property John McMahon who was twice Mayor of Fitzroy and during that time he had the streets of Fitzroy planted with these species of trees in order to give the unemployed residents of Fitzroy a meaningful occupation during an economic depression. He was also responsible for obtaining the Edinburgh Gardens for the people of Fitzroy and he had these trees planted in those Gardens as well. John named this property Kincora.
