Statement of Significance
An elaborate and early example of synagogue design in Victoria, erected in 1861 to designs by John Young of Young and Honey. The facade has a heavily bracketted broken pediment incorporating a Diocletian window; pilasters with flanking colonettes, and mannerist rusticated voussoirs about the entrance.
