CARMAN'S MILL - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: Carmen's Mill was operated between 1919 and 1922. Logs for the mill came from the valley of Running Creek above and below the Mason's Falls and also from the slopes of Mount Sugarloaf. Timber from the mill was hauled up by an inclined tramway by winch and cable.Heritage Inventory Description
CARMAN'S MILL - Heritage Inventory Description
Remains of a mill site. All that remains is a sawdust heap (approximately 15 x 20 metres and about 0.5 metres deep)and a tramway formation, there are no remains of machinery or mill building. the evidence for the tramway is a slight clearing rising up the hill from Running Creek. Two bed logs survive in the creek and probably would have been a part of a "make-up" bridge. The mill site is the focal point of a National Parks information walk. The site extends c.50x50m.
