Statement of Significance
The Avon Plains Memorial was constructed in 1972 to commemorate the centenary of the signing of land occupation and to perpetuate the memory of the first settlers of the area. The memorial is largely intact.
The Avon Plains Memorial is historically and socially significant at a LOCAL level. It commemorates the earliest developments of the Avon Plains district perpetuates the memory of the first settlers between 1869 and 1875. The memorial is valued and recognised by the Avon Plains community for commemorative reasons.
Overall, the Avon Plains Memorial is of LOCAL significance.

The Avon Plains Memorial, 1903 Donald-Avon Plains Road, Avon Plains, is situated in an open, rural field, with a treed background looking onto a lake.
The Avon Plains Memorial is characterised by a concrete cairn, approximately 1.5 metres high, and is adorned with quartz stones. The central concrete section of the cairn has quartz stones forming the name "Avon Plains".
