Heritage Inventory History of Site: The main shaft was sunk in 1936 and work ceased in 1968.

Heritage Inventory Interpretation: Remnants of the mining operations around the main shaft for working the western area of the Dudley Basin.

WONTHAGGI - WESTERN AREA - Heritage Inventory Description
The site contains an extensive but disturbed mullock heap, concrete floors for stables, toilets, token board area, two change rooms, a lamp room and office block, the air shaft plenum chamber, exhaust fan machinery foundations, air compressor machinery foundations, six concrete pads for the main poppet legs, winding machinery foundations, concrete foundations for the mullock haulage system and a site of a magazine.
Heritage Inventory Significance: The site is of low regional significance. The site marks the most westerly working of the Dudley Basin and the western end of the haulage system to No. 5 brace. The only had the six legged poppet head on the field but the other features of the site are found better preserved at other sites.
