WORLLEY'S TRAMWAY - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The tramway was opened in 1915 and originally worked with horses. Tractors were introduced in the lat 1920s. 7 people were killed at Worlley's Mill during the 1926 fires, and the milLa Trobe River was destroyed. In 1932 fires burnt parts of the tramway, including transhipment facilities at Worlley's siding.WORLLEY'S TRAMWAY - Interpretation of Site
Site used from early 20thC for transport of timber from mills. Since abandonment area has regenerated and is reserve bushland.
WORLLEY'S TRAMWAY - Archaeological Significance
Lowto med. Tramway sites are no uncommon throughout region . Low potential for associated subsurface deposits. Site has examples of various types of tramways.
WORLLEY'S TRAMWAY - Historical Significance
Associated with local saw milling industry, as well as the 1926 fires which claimed lives at Worlley's Mill .

WORLLEY'S TRAMWAY - Heritage Inventory Description
Lower section of tramway follows the Saxton Creek Valley. Examples of each of wooden rails, wooden with steel trap rails and lightweight steel rails are found along the tramway route.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Regional. The tramway is significant as a whole as an interesting example of a "between the wars' minor tramline feeding into a main line.
