Heritage Inventory Description
YELLAND'S SEASONING KILNS - Heritage Inventory Description
Four concrete seasoning kilns, two mostly intact, which are a rare feature in sawmilling sites. There are concrete foundations behind the kiln and a large, level clearing in front. A levelled house site is located 100m above the kilns.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Regional. The lack of knowledge about this site makes it difficult to assess. Seasoning kilns, particularly from the 1920s, are a relatively rare feature of sawmill sites. This site was also possibly the site of a farm, cleared in the 1870s, reclaimed by the forest.
