ROBBS REWARD MINE - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site:
The Robb's Reward mine at Upper Thornton was worked co-operatively by Robb & party from c.1890s until 1909, when it closed down due to a depleted ore body. During that period, the mine had a 6-head battery. Andy Miller says a descendant of the original Robb lives locally and has documentation about the mine's history.

ROBBS REWARD MINE - Heritage Inventory Description
The mine site is close to the park boundary and adjacent to the Eildon tip site. The mine tunnel remains. It is in good condition, the walls and ceilings being sedimentary stone and reasonably safe. There is a benched hut site and some stones from the chimney. A battery site is near the creek and a water race is sited along the bank. The battery was removed from here and restored to operating condition at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. Other relics, eg a mining skiff, are scattered about the site, but many items have been removed by collectors.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Regional. /nThe site has a variety of related features (mine, hut and battery sites, water race and artefacts) with educational potential.
