MORGAN'S MILL TRAMWAY - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The need for the tramway to the Tyers Valley was exacerbated by the 1926 bushfires, which killed a large amount of timber which then had to be salvaged quickly. The tramway was constructed by the FCV and was completed in 1927, intitially operating with a tractor. After unsuccessfully trying a steam locomotive , a geared locomotive was purchased from the U.S.A. and arrived in 1928. The tramway operated until 1949.Heritage Inventory Description
