Statement of Significance
The Gold Prospectors Monument, 8669 Wimmera Highway, St. Arnaud East, has significance as a memorial to the first gold prospectors in the area in 1854. The memorial is largely intact.
The Gold Prospectors Monument is historically and socially significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with the initial gold prospecting developments in the northern area of St. Arnaud from 1854, and is recognised and valued by the local St. Arnaud community for these reasons.
Overall, the Gold Prospectors Monument is of LOCAL significance.

The Gold Prospector's Monument is situated off the St. Arnaud-Bendigo Road at St. Arnaud North.

This monument is formed by a truncated masonry pyramid with dark stone veneer cladding and an arrow fixed to the top pointing in the direction of the creek where gold was first prospected in the district in 1854. A stone tablet inset into the memorial is inscribed with the names of the prospectors and of the donor:
