FORMER JUNCTION HOTEL SITE, YARRA FLATS - History
The hotel and associated outbuildings were established in 1872 on the goldfields route. The hotel closed in 1918 and burnt down on 24 August 1935. It had been a popular rendezvous but had lost its licence and closed by 1918.FORMER JUNCTION HOTEL SITE, YARRA FLATS - Interpretation of Site
The occupation of the site represents several historical development themes including, settlement, mining, transport and early 20th century developemtns of the area.

Given 63 years of occupation of the site, from 1872 until 1935, there isa high potential for stratified archaeological deposits in the vicinity of the well and former buildings. These deposits may have been impacted by farming activities but could offer some insights into the former history of the site.
