Statement of Significance
A property deriving from the Corrombong Run of Captain W.H. Bacchus in the 1840s. There is a slab timber hut of about 1860, with brick additions of before 1880. In front of this is a bluestone house of 1883 and to the side, an Edwardian timber house of 1918. There are other contextual outbuildings elements and trees.
The farm comlex is of local historical significance as a representatve embodiment of a way of life, its social values and agricultural practice over 135 years. It demonstrates a changing sequence of pattern of occuancy, use and architectural styles. The slab hut is relatively early to the locality. It also has architectural significance as representative examples of farm buildings of at least three historical periods.

Slab Hut Rosehill - Physical Description 1
House 1. A double-fronted, timber gambrel-roofed Edwardian house of 1918. The righthand front and rear side bays are set forward as gables. Eaves are supported on brackets and the upper gables have scalloped shingles and jetty on joists. Below are shallow curved bow windows, with four casements, the upper lights leadlight. The verandah is in the angle, under the main roof which steps forward on both sides as a minor hip. It has a V-profile bressumer. On the left hand side, are two skillion hoods. Chimneys have pots. The vehicular gates are early cast-iron H.V. McKay. There are various pine trees.
House 2. A double-fronted symmetrical, bluestone house with a hip roof of 1883. The timber verandah has a hip roof; and is decorated with cast-iron lace brackets. There are mature trees.
Slab Hut. A rectangular early timber hut (about 1860) with later alterations (before 1880) in brick. It is aligned proximately on axis of house 2, but separated from it. Apparently, the original structure was of vertical slabs, 250 x50mm, tapering both ends, the top fitting into grooves in the top olates, which are halved into each other at corners, and nailed to corner posts. The roof is split shingles (or palings) on undressed rafters and sawn battens. Two parts of the roof are of different dates, and it may have been joined to the house, perhaps as a kitchen, cool room or dairy. The northern roof is hipped and that nearer the house, gabled, clad in split watherboards. The lower wall is hand-made brick, as is the north end, with timber posts at corners. There is a central fireplace and at right, a baking oven. Nails are Ewbank patent or similar. 1
Other. There is a twentieth century timber barn to the north-west of the slab hut and a brick farm building to its north-east.
