Statement of Significance
Statement of Significance as recorded under the Queenscliff Heritage Study 2009
The ballroom of the Vue Grand Hotel is of local historical and social significance as a venue for balls and other events associated with the hotel, and later, for its use as a cinema. While now adapted for residential use, the ballroom and manager's residence both demonstrate the scale of the Vue Grand's operation and its development as a building complex. The ballroom is also of architectural significance as a fine and externally intact example of a ballroom/hall building of the late nineteenth century. While of relatively utilitarian design, it is an imposing and striking building in this location. The ballroom is also of significance for its association with several prominent citizens including hotelier, George Admans, and Queenscliff Councillor, Lewis Klug.

Former Vue Grand Hotel Ballroom, 13 Hobson Street, Queenscliff - Physical Description 1
Extract from the 2009 study
From Hesse Street, the ballroom is concealed by the main part of the hotel, however it can be viewed from Hobson Street. The former ballroom is a long brick building that has a gable roof clad in slate tiles. Large arched double-hung sash windows extend along the Hobson Street elevation.[i] The ballroom is partially concealed from view from Hobson Street by the former manager's house, which is built behind a garden and a high brick fence.
