Heritage Inventory History of Site: Nillumbik Mine - comprised of two reefs initially worked 'in the early days' of mining and then 1905-1950 on possible intermittent basis. (see article enclosed with site card)

Heritage Inventory Interpretation: Mine was operated last in the industries' history and was on small scale operation until 1950.

NILLUMBIK MINE - Heritage Inventory Description
Site comprises ruins of former Nillumbik Mine situated mid slope on the western bank of Scrubby Creek.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Few other recorded mines in Diamond Valley. High local cultural significance. Low-moderate scientific significance.
Recorded by: Andrea Murphy Date Recirded: Date Recorded: 23/05/01/nHeritage Inventory Key Components: Spoil from main shaft./nHeritage Inventory Site Features: There is a clearly defined main shaft that has been filled. There are also depressions uphill that may be the remains of other shafts. Land to the south has been heavily modified so it is not known whether shafts also existed there too. There are a few in situ wooden logs and several pieces of corrugated iron in the holes and buried in the spoil.
