House - Physical Description 1
This elegant residence is illustrated in Victoria and Its Metropolis and described as Dr.Pinnocks house. Since Dr. Pinnock settled in Sturt Street in 1877 it is probable that ,he was an early, if not the first, owner of the property.
This building is unusual for the carriageway opening through an arch in the facade, the bay window of the ground floor, the projecting top storey, which comes out to the street alignment, and the very substantial Tuscan column on rough faced bluestone pedestals with drafted margins. The columns are placed in antis and on the wing walls shallow pilasters are represented below a Doric entablature with triglyphs, metopes, mutule blocks and a projecting cornice. Above this in the first floor is a central three light window flanked by two ordinary sash windows, each with a projecting balconette, the iron of which matches the balustrade of the ground floor verandah. The ground floor verandah curves to meet the arched carriageway.
