Red Cliffs Drill Hall - Veterans Description for Public
The Red Cliffs Drill Hall, located on Fitzroy Avenue, dates from the Second World War and is the only one of its kind left. During the Second World War, economy and speed of construction were the prime concerns. Accordingly, drill halls of this period returned to designs similar to the First World War but were built of weatherboards with corrugated asbestos cement roofs. The one exception is HMAS Londsdale which is of unique design in brick with tall west facing windows (the building is empty). The Red Cliffs Drill Hall is now used as a scout hall.
