BURNIES' HOUSE, HESKETHS RD, NULLAWARE - History
J.D. Burnie bought allotment 26 in 1878 and built this house sometime after that. Historical evidence (spreadbourough & Anderson, 1983) also show 'Murray' settlement in this area during the 1850's. The house was dismantled in 1950 by Ormond Howe and materials re-used to construct adjacent shearing shed.BURNIES' HOUSE, HESKETHS RD, NULLAWARE - Interpretation of Site
Site dates to late 1800's, may contain interesting artefacts & structural evidence. It is possible that this location may have had earlier occupation (Murray 1850's). If site to be impacted then further research (late record search) & sub-surface testing required to clarify the significance of this site.

This site is of moderate archaeological significance as teh former weatherboard building was dismantled in 1950. Potential for cultural deposits relating to the late 19th century occupation.

BURNIES' HOUSE, HESKETHS RD, NULLAWARE - Heritage Inventory Description
Location of large weatherboard house known as "Burnies' house".
No above ground remains. Likely to be sub-surface structural and artefact material. No structural evidence on surface. Location of site indicated by Ormand Howe. Small number of artefacts (glass, metals etc) has been strewn under aged boxthorn. Site is 10-15 metres south-east of extant former shearing shed.
