Darraweit Guim Boer War Memorial - Veterans Description for Public
Located on the grounds of Darraweit Guim Primary School, the Darraweit Guim Boer War Memorial was built in memory of a former pupil, Thomas Henry Mahoney. Mahoney was 21 years old when he was killed in action at Wilmansrust, South Africa on June 12th 1901.
Darraweit Guim Primary School is one of the few Victorian schools to erect a war memorial on school grounds. The memorial comprises of a stone pillar and cross made by J Swan, monumental mason of Latrobe Street, Melbourne.
