STAWELL WATER SUPPLY SCHEME - History
Construction commenced 1875 with local engineer John D'Alton designing gravity system from Fyans Valley. Tunnelling was undertaken with considerable difficulty and contracts were cancelled. Finally commissioned in October 1881 but deterioration of wooden flum required constant maintenance.STAWELL WATER SUPPLY SCHEME - Interpretation of Site
Remains of 1870s-1930s flume siphon and associated structures abandoned in 1955 when new pipeline was constructed.

STAWELL WATER SUPPLY SCHEME - Heritage Inventory Description
Water supply flume comprising Fyans Creek Weir. Remnants of steel channel/flume on stone and timber supports; siphons and tunnel through Mt Willoughby Range. Dates to 1875-1880 and later alterations.
Fyans Creek Weir, flume, Bovine Creek Siphon, Deep Creek Trestle, Redman Rd stone trestle, Bonney Creek Siphon, Bonbicon ROcks terrace, Castle Creek trestle, Castle Creek Siphon, Long Gully Siphon, Mt William Range Tunnell.
