Statement of Significance
The site has signifance for its potential to illustrate early ettlement and farming along Merri Creek in the 1860s-1870s. It also has archaeological potential.

Heritage Inventory Description
MERRI CREEK SOMERTON RUIN - Heritage Inventory Description
Ruins of a rectangular bluestone structure 8x4.6 metres. Foundations remain, constructed of two rows of bluestone blocks in mortar, preserved up to three courses in height. There are a few scattered hand-made bricks. Adjacent on the south side is a 4 metre wide depression in the ground.
