RUINS - History
This ruinous stone and brick structure, probably erected in the 1850s or 1860s, is of architectural, historical and scientific significance to the Sandon district. The building may have been constructed by the Maher family who occupied this area. The first local Catholic Service was held in the Maher's house c.1858. The place has probably been in a ruinous condition since the 1900s.
The building relates to the early settlement of land in the area for agricultural and mining purposes. The use of local stone in its construction is notable.
