FORMER LOCKSLEY STATION - History
This station was opened on 18th October 1882 and Burnt Creek Wood Siding. A passenger platform was later added to the up side of the railway line (Turton 1973:36), with a goods shed and sheep yards located on down side. The name was changed to Burnt Creek on 3rd January 1883 before becoming Locksley on 5th December 1904. In 1898 the railway station was destroyed by fire and a new platform and buildings were built within a year (Houston 1988:7). Track alterations were made in 1916 to change wide S-curves to the current layout. The station closed to passengers 1st April 1973. In 1977 the station was closed to all traffice and both the up and down end connections were removed. (Waught 1989:13).FORMER LOCKSLEY STATION - Interpretation of Site
