Statement of Significance
C Listed - Local Significance
A series of shops and residence in brick and timber built in 1910-11 and 1927. They are architecturally significant as surviving Edwardian retail buildings and historically significant as a representative embodiment of retail practice in Newtown in the first 30 years ofthe twentieth century.

Shops - Physical Description 1
An interesting group of four (formerly five) brick and timber shops no. 6 is Early in style but Edwardian in date, and nos. 388-392 are Late Edwardian. No. 386 on the comer of Laurel Bank Parade, has a brick spandrel, otherwise timber, with a hip roof, five timber Tuscan pilasters at the splayed comer. It has two-panel double doors on the splay and the timber shop-fronts may also be original. Over the windows are pressed metal panels in roughcast pattern.
Nos. 388-392 have brick parapets rendered with a flat capping mould, with raised panels,rectangular at sides(nos. 392 and 388)and triangular at centre (no. 390). There is decoration and the piers extend above the parapet. The timber shop-fronts to 388 and 390 are 1920s 388 being double-fronted and 390, single-fronted, these have pressed metal ceilings in Art Nouveau pattern and a decorative ventilator over window showcase, entrance and a single feature panel in the internal ceiling. There is good leadlight in an Art Nouveau pattern and a bevelled mirror. Spandrels have deep blue ashlar ceramic wall tiles. No. 392 has a chimney with a terracotta pot. There is a plain skillion timber verandah. At rear no. 1A is a timber cottage with bullnosed verandah.
