LAKEVIEW SITE - History
In 1882 John Dorran brought his family to Mallacoota and selected a large area of land. He immediately started to clear the two large headlands between Howe Flat and Allan Head, and at the same time commenced to build a large residence and hotel, named "Lake View". The hotel flourished in the Spotted Dog mining days, and was also popular with fishermen and tourists.LAKEVIEW SITE - Archaeological Significance
The former Lakeview site is considered to have the potential to contain significant historical archaeological features, deposits and relics relating to the settlement and occupation of the place from the 1880s onwards.
LAKEVIEW SITE - Historical Significance
