STATEMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE:
What is significant?
This is an extremely large and imposing River Red Gum which is estimated to be 400 years old and is believed to have Aboriginal cultural significance. The tree grows on the edge of a seasonal wetlands which has previously been drained.
How is it significant?
This River Red Gum is significant for scientific, social and aesthetic reasons at State level.
Why is it significant?
This tree is outstanding for its large size, with a trunk circumference of 14m, height of 38.5m and a canopy spread of 27.5m. It is generally healthy but the amount of foliage is relatively sparse for its size. It is an outstanding example of the species and makes a significant contribution to the landscape. This River Red Gum is believed to be of Aboriginal cultural significance.
