STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The rectangular plan bluestone woolshed on the former pastoral property 'Marathon' estate was constructed in the 1860's for pastoralist John Gray. The woolshed, characteristically functional and designed in the agricultural building tradition of the era 1850-1860 is all that remains of the 'Marathon' run, the homestead and appurtenant outbuildings being demolished in 1938-39. Several notable Victorian pastoralists, including Robert Officer and Sir Samuel Wilson owned the property. The bluestone woolshed is typical of pastoral property buildings, without significant architectural importance and eclipsed by many other woolshed structures in the region.
