Statement of Significance
The house at no. 255 Buckley Street, Essendon, was built on the "Aberfeldie Estate" in 1891-92. It is aesthetically important (Criterion E) as a locally rare (Criterion B) late Victorian Boom period villa in the Gothic mode though incorporating Classical Revival motifs in its design. It is of interest also as one of a number of houses built on the "Aberfeldie Estate" soon after its subdivision and sale.

HOUSE - Physical Description 1
A white tuckpointed red brick eclectic asymmetrical villa with Gothic influenced barge fretwork and finial, lancet arched motifs to the verandah iron work and castellated treatment to the window bay and having cement quoins and acanthus leaf eaves brackets in the Italianate manner. The verandah floor has encaustic tilework and bluestone base walls and margins.
