SHOP & DWELLING - Physical Description 1
The corner shop at 88 Evans Street and adjoining dwelling is an unusually intact surviving example. It is a single storey brick building on the south-east corner of Evans and Minnie Streets. The dwelling section is located on Evans Street to the east of the shop. The shop building occupies the corner, with a corner and side entry. The post supported verandah returns at the corner and retains original detailing including a scalloped valence and chamfered posts. The corner entry door has a bluestone pavement step.
The shop retains timber framed shop windows to the north and west, several with early internal signs painted on the glass. The interior of the shop has not been inspected. The major external change to the shop has been the painting of the face brickwork.
The house section, a timber dwelling with brick firewall to the east, is single fronted with paired double-hung sash windows and an entry door with side and highlight windows. A skillion verandah replaces the former bull-nosed verandah on the house section (evidence in the brickwork indicates the former bull-nosed form). The main facade is clad in timber block work.SHOP & DWELLING - Physical Conditions
